Poll: The More You Sit, the Sooner You Die

sitting-equals-early-death.jpg

There are so many factors that contribute to the obesity rates in the western world and it definitely is a complex issue.

What's worse, as the world continues to evolve into a more technological driven society, people are spending a lot more time sitting in front of that technology instead of being up and moving on the job.

According to ongoing research at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana the more hours a day a person sits, the more likely they are to die an early death regardless of the amount of exercise they do.

This means that if a person has a job where they're on their feet all day, they are better off than a person who sits at a desk for 7 hours a day but jogs several miles before or after work.

This is based on a 2007 study from the University of Missouri that revealed that people who had active jobs burned many more Calories a week than people who ran 35 miles a week but had sedentary jobs.

Researchers say that sitting contributes to all kinds of health problems including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and muscle, spine, and other skeletal issues. Some businesses are switching on to this research and providing their employees with devices like the Trek Desk so workers can be moving as they work.

Would you work out in fitness her?

I guess we should not be too surprised, but eternal superstar (with the exception of his hands) has announced the opening of its new line of fitness - centers "Hard Candy Fitness" (how Seriously? what-better that Sweet and Sticky I guess?)

Sense someone kept as suitable like Madonna would be interested in a company of fitness. At 52, Madonna is FIT - has always taken seriously their health.
The new string opens its first store in the city of Mexico 29 November, and there are plans to expand to Brazil, Argentina, Russia, elsewhere in Europe and Asia.
So apart from the fact that it is of "Madonna gym", "Hard Candy Fitness" (new cringes) has to offer?
The company is a partnership with the town of 24 hour fitness which means that it is likely that we will see a cookie-cutter gym withMadona's name and a few high-end ornaments. (Trying to not be hard, but the same happened in my city with a high-profile Canadian hoops star).
30,000 Square foot club will have children's Book Center, a fashion line, a spa called La Isla Bonita and a day care center (Like a Virgin) .
A second copy...
...You can eventually get on "Hard Candy Fitness", but I cannot even start to explain how wrong is to call its care centre "Like a Virgin". What's next? A line of children's clothing called "Material Girl"? Oh wait...!
The gym will also include a fruit bar Center, a study of the bicycle, cardio machines with screens of individual viewing and various types of dance in the form of Zumba, fitness programs move Latin and Cardio Kickboxing. These types of classes are popular at the moment, and I suspect that they remain at the top of the hottest trends in group exercise.
How much this set back? "Not so much as one might think that"- according to the general director (source). I guess that is in code, "Yup, it will be overpriced but not so ridiculously exorbitant as you might expect".
I should be grateful Madonna not train with Tracy Anderson already and not go into business with her. I can only imagine tour that gym; "This is the weight room... here are weights 1 lb, 2 pound weights and there are strong one - 3 pounds - careful with those!"
The gym will be equipped with some of the best-known cardio and brands such as; Hammer Strength PreCor, Nautilus, Hoist, StarTrac, Free Motion, AbCoaster, TRX force training suspension training. I am more interested in how many squat racks, banks and free have weights they have, but they are presumably - appealing to the high-end masses who like bells and whistles.
Things I would hope not to see in Madonna's Gym:
A woman's only sections called "No "Guy's"
The fruit bar featuring "Vanilla Ice" smoothies.
The snack bar selling a terrible version of American Pie
Trainers that have fathered Madonna's children.
TV's featuring any of Madonna's movies.

In all seriousness, will probably be a flawless experience and have some "Flare", that most of the clubes don't have. I prefer the bare-bones iron-heavy set-ups, with lots of floor space, but I'm usually in the minority there.
"With international appeal of Madonna, could be a recipe for runaway success. As Mark Mastrov, says the partner of Madonna in the undertaking;""Madonna's touch is everywhere".... I'll leave that you one alone!
Would you work at a "Hard Candy" center?
